The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2026 opens for applications

Business in the Community (BITC) has today announced that The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2026 has opened for applications.

The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers taking action to create workplaces where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive.

The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality is BITC’s flagship award, celebrating the achievements and impact of organisations that are leading the way in championing gender equality in the workplace. Applicants will fill out a survey around the actions and strategies they have in place to ensure gender equality is embedded in their workplaces, including information relating to collection and reporting of diversity and pay data, as well as flexible working, care, and other family friendly policies.

BITC believes that to achieve true gender equity at work, employers must:

  • Embed flexible working from day one.
  • Ensure equitable support for parents and carers in the workplace, regardless of their gender or who they provide care for.
  • Enhance transparency around pay, including salary details on job adverts and being clear about how rewards are set.
  • Take active, dedicated actions to surface and address the ongoing issue of sexual harassment.
  • Ensure an intersectional approach, collecting data and addressing the barriers faced by different groups of women in the workforce (i.e. women in low paid roles).

Harriet Walker, Director of Advisory and Member Services at Business in the Community, said:

We are excited that The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2026 has now opened for applications. Business in the Community has been running this awards process since 2011, and it is always inspiring to see the work applicants are doing to ensure gender equality is prioritised in their workplaces. So much positive change has happened since we first started running the awards, and companies remain steadfast in their ambition. I look forward to seeing the insights from this year’s cohort and working with businesses from all sectors to ensure gender equality remains high on the responsible business agenda.
