Nature-based Solutions to the Climate Emergency – IGNITION project
The ‘Nature-based solutions to the climate emergency: The benefits to business and society’ report is the first business-facing resource created by the IGNITION project, produced in partnership with UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and Greater Manchester Combined Authorities (GMCA). The report assesses the nature-based solutions (NBS) evidence base to address priorities of business and the built environment. The evidence base comprises a vast body of scientific literature in support of utilising NBS across the built environment. The purpose of this document is to inspire confidence among business leaders and investors in the use of NBS to deliver greater outcomes for business, society and the environment.
This report was first published in August 2020 and republished in June 2026.
