Actions for Leaders

Actions for Business Leaders at Business in the Community

Business in the Community (BITC) is where leaders immerse themselves in the most pressing social and environmental issues. Together, leaders collaborate to take action and scale up support for initiatives across the United Kingdom. BITC partners closely with CEOs, board members and senior leaders, empowering a collaborative approach to taking action and scaling up action on the issues that matter most.

Change lives and transform communities with BITC

When leaders take collective action and create collaborative solutions, only then will we make the greatest impact for those who need it most. We are asking all leaders to ‘lift up’ the UK by:

  • 1. Helping every young person and jobseeker feel supported and have clear pathways into work
  • 2. Investing in the skills needed today and for the future, to create workplaces where everyone can grow and reach their potential regardless of background
  • 3. Ensuring every community has a shared sense of pride and hope with the support needed to build a strong collective vision to deliver a fairer greener future.

For leaders, by leaders

State of the Nation 2025

This annual report represents the views of more than 100 recently interviewed business leaders from across the UK. They say:

  • Economic prosperity must be a common goal
  • They are maintaining or increasing their commitment to responsible business
  • That responsible business is a foundation for growth, however, they are publicly sharing less information for fear of backlash

There is an urgent and unifying call for better collaboration to find solutions to systemic societal and environmental issues, with a specific call for the Government to work more closely with businesses to tackle societal inequality and opportunity in the most disadvantaged communities in the UK.
