BITC response to latest ONS employment figures

Responding to the latest ONS estimates of the number of people employed, unemployed and economically inactivity in the UK, Nicola IngeSocial Impact Director at Business in the Community, said:

“While there has been an 11th consecutive fall in the number of jobs available reported by the ONS, employers are still struggling to fill over one million jobs across the UK. However, there are things employers can do to help fill vacancies, such as removing unnecessary requirements around education, qualifications and experience and focusing instead on essential skills such as teamwork, resilience and positivity.

“By focusing on inclusive recruitment, employers will be able to tap into wider talent pools which could, in turn, help address the current labour market shortages impacting employers in all parts of the UK.”
