About Laura Hague
Dr Laura Hague is Group Head of Safety and Wellbeing at Mott MacDonald. With a background in environmental science and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Cardiff University, she brings over 30 years of experience across global health, safety, and wellbeing. Her career spans major risk-intensive sectors including rail, highways, buildings, energy, and water, working across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, and North America.
Laura leads Mott MacDonaldās global health, safety, and wellbeing strategy, reporting directly to the Group Managing Director and providing assurance to the Executive Board on health and safety, wellbeing, safeguarding, travel, and travel security. She is known for a pragmatic, riskābased approach that integrates physical and psychosocial wellbeing, with a focus on building a positive culture and achieving zero harm.
She joined the leadership wellbeing team because she believes that proactive, riskāinformed wellbeing is essential toĀ developĀ a productive, motivated workforce. For her, effective wellbeing starts with capable, confident leaders. Through Mott MacDonald and the BITC leadership group, she is committed to strengthening leadership capability so people managers can create the conditions for safe, healthy, and highāperforming teams.
Outside work, Laura enjoys travelling, exploring different cultures, gardening, walking her dog, and learning golf.
Laura has served on Business in the Community’s Wellbeing Leadership Team board since April 2025.

The purpose of the Business in the Community (BITC) Wellbeing Leadership Team is to build a movement committed to positioning health and wellbeing as strategic boardroom issues, with a particular focus on mental health. As a team, the team drives collective action on workplace wellness through evidence-based, practical solutions.Ā
