Join to examine employer responsibilities to prevent sexual harassment and how to respond proactively under the Worker Protection Act

This is an online event taking place on Microsoft Teams

Audience

Business in the Community (BITC) members, as well as non-members who have an advisory package with us. Hosted by our issue experts, there are 20 forums a year, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges, solutions and ideas.

This event will be of particular value to HR, legal, and safeguarding leads responsible for policy, compliance and workplace culture.

Background

BITC’s supports employers to build safe, respectful, and inclusive workplaces where dignity at work is protected. Preventing harassment is closely linked to broader culture, leadership behaviour, and organisational trust—core themes across BITC’s responsible business framework.

About the event

The Worker Protection Act signals a shift from reactive response toward preventative duty. Employers are now expected not only to address incidents but to demonstrate the steps they take to reduce risk and create safe working environments.

This session will explore:

  • What “reasonable steps” look like in practice
  • The role of leadership, culture, and reporting mechanisms
  • How prevention connects to wider inclusion and psychological safety strategies

Through shared discussion, we will identify practical actions organisations can take to strengthen prevention and accountability.
