Eugene Moriarty is from a London Irish family and began his career as a teacher of Physical Education and English. He has always had a keen interest in helping young people with barriers to learning make progress and during his career he has had the roles of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Teacher in a Special School and Hillingdon LA Behaviour Support Team Manager.
Eugene has spent most of his teaching career in inner London. He is in his 14th year as Headteacher at St Augustine’s Church of England High School in Kilburn (Westminster). In 2019 the school federated with the Primary School next door and Eugene’s title is now Head of Federation. He currently sits on Business in the Community’s (BITC) Education Taskforce and is a strong supporter of inclusive education and the importance of supporting young people to develop their values, character and personality as well as achieving academic progress. He is on the Taskforce to share his experience in the hope that as many young people as possible can have work related experiences that transform their lives.
Eugene was awarded the Community Champion award at The Responsible Business Local Impact Awards London 2014 and also received a Commendation from the Metropolitan Police in 2014.
