Six actions your business can take

We are accelerating the pace at which businesses work together to create a fairer and greener world.

The six actions below identify how your business can develop fairer workplaces, take action on the climate agenda and work together with other businesses and communities to scale up positive impacts.

ACTION 1 – Sign the Race at Work Charter

It is time to close the gap and #WorkItFairer for everyone in the workplace, starting with tackling racism in the workplace.

Our Race at Work campaign was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1995 with the support of key business leaders, and the Race at Work Charter has clear recommendations to ensure that ethnic minority employees are represented at all levels in an organisation.

ACTION 2 – Support employees who care for others

It is 2022 but women still face a lifetime of unequal workplaces.

Learn how your organisation can transform the way we support people to combine paid work with caring responsibilities, and so drive progress on gender equality – join the Who Cares campaign.

ACTION 3 – Help transform mental health and wellbeing at work

Mental health is a huge issue, not just for individuals but for families and businesses too.

We are asking employers to make a firm commitment towards protecting and enhancing their people’s mental health at work. But where should you start? Let us help – together we can work to develop genuine, longer-term positive impacts.

Find out how you can commit to transforming mental health and wellbeing at work.

ACTION 4 – Recruit inclusively

Nobody should be shut out of work because of their background or life experience.

Yet some recruitment practices create barriers for people from disadvantaged groups, meaning that all too often the doors to employment are firmly closed to them.

New for 2022, our Opening Doors campaign identifies five keys to unlocking employment to ensure that jobs are accessible to all.

ACTION 5 – Download our climate action toolkit

We are calling for businesses to take seven steps for climate action.

Our toolkit, available to all and free of charge, sets out exactly how businesses can deliver a just and fair transition to a resilient, net-zero future where people and nature can thrive.

If you want to create value and enhance the prosperity of employees, customers, suppliers and communities, now is the time to get involved.

ACTION 6 – Help local communities thrive

We are encouraging businesses to collaborate in local communities with the public, private and voluntary sectors. There is strength in numbers and the more businesses that come together to take action, the bigger the impact. Do you want to help build thriving communities?
