Sheffield Business Together and its partners are greening school spaces to combat urban air pollution. From green barriers to wild gardens and vegetable plots, these collaborative projects reduce exposure to harmful pollutants while creating vibrant, educational outdoor environments. Already benefitting hundreds of children in schools like Hunter’s Bar, Lowfield, and Hillsborough, the initiative is a scalable model for health, sustainability, and community engagement.

To mark Anti-Slavery Day, Sheffield Business Together and the Chamber of Commerce partnered with City Hearts in October to rally businesses and individuals across the city to donate over 2,000 essential items for survivors of modern slavery, raising awareness, strengthening community ties, and boosting the charity’s local profile.

Business in the Community’s partnership with Sheffield City Council’s See It Be It programme has transformed how young people in disadvantaged communities connect with employers, raising aspirations and life chances through a simple, scalable model that is now being expanded nationally with the support of Aviva.

Sheffield Hallam University and partners established a pioneering research nursery in Shirecliffe to support early childhood development and family well-being, combining education, community engagement, and national policy impact through evidence-based practice, supported, in part, by Aviva, John Lewis, and Henry Boot PLC.
