In communities across the UK that have long endured hardship, BITC’s Pride of Place programme unites people from all walks of life around a vision for a better future, nurturing collaboration, sustained investment and self-belief to drive action so that millions can thrive in a place they call home. Pride of Place Place currently supports three Places in Yorkshire and Humber, Bradford, Sheffield, and York (more information coming soon).
Bradford
Bradford Pride of Place brings together the business, public, and third sector to unlock the city’s potential. As the UK’s youngest and one of its most diverse cities, Bradford is a hub of fresh ideas and innovation. Building on its manufacturing heritage and status as UK City of Culture 2025, Bradford Pride of Place is driving a business-led response to local challenges—reducing inequality, nurturing entrepreneurs, advocating for improved transport, and tackling climate challenges. By aligning with local ambitions and fostering collaboration, we’re shaping a stronger, more resilient Bradford for the future.

Sheffield
Sheffield Pride of Place is bringing businesses, universities, the local authority, and community anchors together to drive a business-led response to the city’s biggest challenges. Working in alignment with Sheffield’s growth plan and city goals, we’re focusing on social mobility, tackling digital poverty, and building neighbourhood wealth through economic and climate resilience. As the UK’s greenest city, Sheffield has the ambition and potential to lead the way. Through collaboration and action, we’re helping to shape a city where people and businesses can truly thrive.

BITC Community Climate Fund
In Bradford, we’re tackling the climate and biodiversity crisis head on with two ambitious projects. One to demystify the energy transition for community organisations; we’re reducing costs and carbon while improving community assets. The other to regenerate urban biodiversity through community-led design of outdoor spaces. More and better nature will enhance health outcomes, community cohesion, and flood prevention. The cumulative impact of these projects means Bradford communities are more resilient to the impacts of climate change and have better access to the opportunities presented by the just transition to net zero.
