Wellbeing Team Welcomes and Celebrates Javier & Siobhan

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving business landscape, the wellbeing of our workforce has never been more critical. At Business in the Community (BITC), we’ve been privileged to have Javier Echave, Chief Operating Officer at Heathrow, at the helm of our Wellbeing Leadership Team. Now, as Javier hands over the role of Chair to Siobhan Moynihan, Chief Financial Officer for Bupa in the UK, we take a moment to celebrate his remarkable contributions and look forward to the exciting future ahead.

A Foundation of Impact: Javier Echave’s Transformative Leadership

Javier’s tenure has been marked by unwavering dedication and a genuine passion for driving positive change in workforce wellbeing. He has skilfully guided the team through a period of significant transformation, consistently positioning BITC as a thought leader in this crucial area. His ability to navigate challenges and maintain momentum has been truly commendable.

Under his leadership, the Wellbeing Leadership Team achieved significant milestones, including:

  • The WorkWell Self-Assessment Tool: This diagnostic tool empowers businesses to assess and enhance their wellbeing strategies. By providing a structured framework, it enables organisations to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions. As Javier noted, “The WorkWell tool was created to give businesses a practical method to evaluate their wellbeing support and create a positive change.” The tool has impacted over 1.43 million employees, which is the equivalent of almost the entire population of Liverpool, across over 30 industry sectors.
  • Prioritise People: Unlocking a thriving workforce: This landmark report provides critical insights and recommendations for fostering a thriving workforce. The cost of implementing wellbeing strategies is equivalent to “£4,000-£12,000 of extra value per employee” which is “around 6-17% of UK Gross Domestic Product” (GDP). This highlights the inextricable link between employee wellbeing and business success, offering compelling data and actionable strategies. The report highlights how prioritising employee needs is ethical and a key driver of productivity (10%) and resilience, whilst also raising profitability (23%).
  • Prioritise People: The Next Step (report): Building upon the foundation laid by the previous report, ‘The Next Step’ provides practical guidance for businesses to translate insights into action. It offers concrete steps and strategies for creating sustainable wellbeing initiatives, ensuring long-term positive impact.

Guiding Through Change

Javier navigated the team through a period of global change, ensuring that the team remained focused and productive. His ability to engage with members and maintain a clear vision ensured that BITC remained at the forefront of the wellbeing conversation. His leadership has cemented BITC’s reputation as a go-to source for thought leadership on workforce wellbeing.

A New Chapter: Welcoming Siobhan Moynihan to Lead the Way

We are thrilled to welcome Siobhan Moynihan as the new Chair of the Wellbeing Leadership Team. With her extensive experience and expertise at Bupa, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective. Siobhan’s commitment to building upon the strong foundation laid by Javier is evident in her vision for the future. “I’m really excited to join the Wellbeing Leadership Team and continue the importance of promoting workplace wellbeing,” says Siobhan. “At Bupa we know organisations want to keep their workforces well for longer, and by investing in workplace wellbeing they attract and retain critical talent to drive productivity and growth. I look forward to bringing this experience to the role and helping BITC advocate for workplace wellness that helps every colleague to thrive.”
