Race, equity, diversity and inclusion

Purpose

The purpose of Business in the Community’s (BITC) Race Equality Leadership Team is to support employers to help break down the barriers that prevent the progression of ethnic minorities in their workplaces. They act as leaders showing how an inclusive organisation better serves its customers, clients and communities.

Focus areas

  • Race at Work Charter: promoting the charter as the primary means by which companies can commit to action and increasing the number of companies that sign up.
  • Leadership engagement: growing the number and capability of executive-level diversity and inclusion champions in employers, with a focus on race and sharing the experience of these leaders.
  • Measurement of ethnicity and pay reporting: supporting employers in capturing and reporting their ethnicity data and taking action.
