Chris Maguire has been the National Trading Centre Manager at AXA UK for the past eight years, working with insurance brokers to find insurance solutions for commercial businesses across the UK.

He has worked for AXA for 25 years in a range of roles from trainee actuary to Internal Audit Manager and Head of Financial Operations. He is also the site leader for AXA’s office in Bolton where about 900 colleagues are based.

AXA is a global company but with strong ties to the North West region over many decades. Today there are sizeable offices based in Bolton, Morecambe and Manchester encompassing careers including underwriting, claims handling, IT, finance and human resources. AXA has a global purpose to act for human progress by protecting what matters and we want to make the business a real pillar of society.

Chris has lived and worked in the North West throughout his life and has a pride and passion for what can be achieved by people in the region. He has a keen interest in people and career development and will use his experience to support the goals of Business in the Community.

Wolfgang Seidl leads Workplace Health Consulting for UK and Europe for Mercer Marsh Benefits, advising companies on health and wellbeing strategy, integrated models of healthcare, absence management and proactive interventions.

He is a member of the global health management team, founded the European health and wellbeing network, and advises a blue-chip companies on health and wellbeing strategy and implementation.

Before joining Mercer in 2010, Wolfgang was Executive Director of the Validium Group and Director for consultancy, sales and clinical programmes at Accor Services. Prior to that he worked in primary and secondary care and in academia.

He is a member of national and international research organisations, and a regular speaker at professional conferences in US and Europe.

Wolfgang is a doctor of medicine, holds a master’s degree in psychiatry, philosophy and society, and is a BACP-accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. He is an internationally recognised expert in the field of quality enhancement measures in workplace health and the business impact of health management in terms of return-of-investment models.

Wolfgang has many years of experience in running employee assistance programmes. He is a board director of the Employee Assistance Research Foundation (EARF, St Louis, Missouri) and a visiting university professor in applied psychology.

Jane Durkin is Assistant Director for Corporate Social Responsibility at the General Medical Council (GMC). Jane took this role in May 2020 to lead the GMC’s work to enhance its approach to responsible business.

Jane has been with the GMC since 2008 and was previously responsible for its registration functions. These include the GMC’s contact centre and teams handling more than 20,000 applications for registration each year. She was also responsible for the GMC’s examinations for overseas doctors seeking registration in the UK. The tests make sure doctors who qualify overseas have the right knowledge and skills to practise medicine in the UK. Exams consist of a knowledge test held in 13 countries around the world and a comprehensive skills test at the GMC’s specialist test centre in Manchester. 

Prior to joining the GMC, Jane was Assistant Information Commissioner at the Information Commissioner’s Office in Wilmslow.

Jane is delighted to be on Business in the Community’s North West Advisory Board. She is looking forward to progressing an ambitious agenda for the region and is enthusiastic about combining her passion for responsible business and the North West.

Anouska Ramsay is the Director of Culture and Capability for Santander UK, responsible for the people experience agenda across talent, culture, learning, leadership, resourcing and skills. Anouska is passionate about developing and implementing creative strategies to attract, develop and retain diverse talent and skills and building an inclusive culture where all colleagues can learn, grow, and succeed while being themselves.

As a diversity leader, Anouska is increasing the focus and leadership accountability on inclusion with several innovations to build an inclusive environment, reinforcing the belief that we all have a role to play in creating a workplace that celebrates the diversity of our colleagues, our customers and our communities.

With the team at Santander she is shaping a culture that promotes everyday inclusion – the behaviours that we can demonstrate every day to make everybody feel respected, valued and able to contribute. This has been recognised with Santander being listed in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women, Top 20 Social Mobility Index Organisation, Top Ten Employer in the British LGBT Awards and receiving the Top Employer certification by the Top Employers Institute.

Based on cutting-edge research in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC), Anouska is working on how to overcome the uncovered societal and organisational biases that exist among men and women with caring responsibilities and how these can impact women’s career progression.

Prior to joining Santander, Anouska worked for Capgemini for over 12 years in a number of roles, the most recent being VP for Talent.

Carl Sizer

Carl Sizer graduated from Birmingham University and joined PwC in 1999, becoming Partner in 2009. Prior to joining the management board as Head of Regions on 1 July 2020, Carl has been focused in the financial services sector, most recently leading the growth in the Midlands financial services practice and for the past year has been responsible for the national banking and capital markets audit practice.

Carl has worked with a number of global clients and spent two years in the banking and capital markets practice in New York. Externally, Carl is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales, where he has previously served as deputy chairman of the learning and professional development board, and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland.

Nadine Ledanois Ikin has been working for AXA for 23 years both in France and the UK, and has held a number of positions during that time.

She is a French engineer, having been to one of the French “grandes ecoles” – EISTI, near Paris. She started her career in the nuclear industry before moving to AXA. She is originally from Normandy and settled near Chepstow 13 years ago with her husband and young family.

Nadine leads large change programmes for the AXA UK Head Office, with her expertise being on companies’ sales and acquisitions, pension transformation projects and IT Change.

Nadine is delighted to offer her experiences to Business in the Community’s Wales Leadership Board.

Tom Noble joined Deloitte in 2008 and now leads the South West and Wales insurance audit and assurance team.

Throughout his career, Tom has worked with many of the firm’s largest clients through his audit portfolio and as an advisor focussed on regulatory change and finance transformation, as well as supporting the implementation of effective control frameworks.

Rhys Moore

Rhys Moore is the Claims Risk, Fraud and Complaints Director for AXA Insurance UK PLC. Rhys has worked for AXA for ten years and in this role he is responsible for more than 250 colleagues across various locations within the UK.

Under his leadership major transformations have been introduced. These include to AXA’s approach to the identification and management of fraud, moving the organisation to become more data-led, ensuring genuine customers are not negatively impacted by the small minority of people who wish to perpetrate fraud.

Focusing on customer outcomes is central to his approach and recognising that things sometimes go wrong, Rhys has transformed the approach to complaints identification and handling to ensure positive customer outcomes are central to AXA’s culture and the root cause of issues are addressed to improve the customer experience of all customers.

Growing up in Suffolk and now living in Norwich, Rhys has a deep understanding of East Anglian region and its culture and demographics. He wants to contribute more to the sustainable business development and growth within the region, and help showcase the best things the region and its businesses have to offer.

Samantha Hart

Samantha Hart has over 25 years of practical human resource management experience gained predominantly within the food manufacturing industry. Prior to this she worked within the engineering, information systems and aerospace arenas.

Samantha became the Group HR Director for the Addo Food Group in February 2019 and takes responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources for the group.  Samantha is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (FCIPD) and holds an MA in Human Resource Management.

With its head office based in the East Midland; the Addo Food Group has been members of Business in the Community (BITC) since 2017 and BITC has helped to guide the group on its journey to becoming a responsible business.

Samantha sees membership of the leadership board as an opportunity to contribute to finding solutions along with the others members of the board for the challenges that the communities in which the business operates face every day.

Brad Blundell is one of the founding members of Anthesis and lives and works in Manchester. He has spent the past 30 years working in sustainability and environmental consulting and advisory services, and is passionate about supporting businesses and governments alike to transition to a just, sustainable and resilient future. Brad is the Managing Director for Anthesis’ UK operations.

After studying geography and geology at University of Manchester, Brad gained an MSc in environmental technology at Imperial College, before embarking on a career in consulting. He has worked with companies such as Cremer and Warner (now part of Amec), Atkins and WSP in client delivery and directorial roles.

In his spare time, and when not with the family, Brad is likely to be found out and about in The Peak and beyond, fellrunning, cycling or climbing. He may also be found wandering along the banks of the Mersey in South Manchester with the family pet lurcher, Ziggy.
