The Prince’s Responsible Business Ambassador – Yorkshire and Humber

Richard was appointed Chief Executive of Kelda Group and Yorkshire Water Services Ltd in April 2010. Prior to that he was the Chief Operating Officer of Yorkshire Water (2008-2010) and Director of the Company’s Water Business Unit (2003-2008).  He is Chairman of Kelda Water Services, Keyland Developments, a trustee of the international charity WaterAid, a board member of the water industry trade body Water UK and Chairman of the Business in the Community Yorkshire and Humber Advisory Board.

Richard’s  career  has  had  a  heavy  emphasis on leading change and improving business performance.  He has focused on preparing the Kelda Group for the changes being brought about by legislative and regulatory reform.

Each area of work Business in the Community (BITC) undertakes is led by a group of senior executives who provide strategic guidance and support us in achieving our objectives.

BITC’s Water Taskforce is a cross sectoral group that convenes to collaborate around shared problems on water and the natural environment. They use action research to address challenging environmental issues that impact across sectors and in partnership with government.

The group has identified that cross cutting themes such as innovative financing mechanisms, digital and skills are integral to overcoming environmental challenges that will achieve positive social change.

The Taskforce supports BITC’s Environment Leadership Team, who are helping business drive innovation that turns the threats of the climate emergency into opportunity for people and nature.

Pete Fox

Water Taskforce

Pete Fox is passionate about the British countryside, its wildlife and natural environment.

Born and raised on a mixed farm in the midlands, Pete has worked in the Environment Agency and predecessors for some 28 years in regulatory, technical and leadership roles including climate change, waste regulation, biodiversity and flood risk management. Previous to this he worked in the voluntary sector, in wildlife conservation.

He has a first degree in agriculture, an MSc in wildlife conservation, a PhD in river management. More recently, Peter has been awarded an honorary professorship from Dundee University, in recognition for his ongoing contribution to environmental protection.

Pete is a chartered environmentalist and a Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.

Now in a senior leadership position as Director of Water, Land and Biodiversity, he is responsible for leading the work of the Environment Agency on water quality, water quantity, farming, contaminated land, wildlife and fisheries.

Water Taskforce

Andrew leads Nestlé’s environmental sustainability strategy across its businesses in the UK and Ireland. He has worked for Nestle UK&I for over 20 years, primarily in operational and engineering roles.

Andy is both a chartered engineer (IET) and chartered environmentalist (IEMA). He is focused on bringing together the engineering expertise, operational experience and environmental insights of the organisation alongside collaborative partnerships with academia and key delivery partners to develop and implement robust and effective sustainability programmes.

Stuart has spent over 25 years developing businesses in the sustainability consulting and services space. His experience spans start-ups, completing over 20 acquisitions and building businesses organically in more than 20 countries. He has built market leading businesses both regionally and globally and he has served as a PLC Director on the Board of WSP Group PLC, which became a FTSE 250 Company.

In 2013 Stuart co-founded Anthesis Consulting Group. Using capital raised from the management team and a ‘high net worth’ network, the business has grown to over 450 people across several continents. Their clients include many FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 Companies. The ambition is to become the global market leader in making organisations more sustainable and more prosperous.

As a member of the Environment Leadership Team of Business in the Community, Stuart has chaired the Visioning the Future, Transforming Business program. He is active in the transition towards the circular economy, seeking new more resilient business models, and in seeking new business opportunities for win-win change.

Tim Doubleday is a highly commercial CFO with a successful record of creating strategies and implementing change including corporate finance transactions, corporate and departmental restructuring. Tim has strong leadership skills, financial and operational experience in the UK and Internationally in both large and smaller scale organisations. Trained in a top accountancy firm and specialising in corporate finance, he has extensive experience of service, outsourcing and hospitality industries.

With his experience of change management and business growth he is passionate about helping BITC to develop its environmental strategy to meet the needs of its members and the ever changing and increasing focus on our climate. In doing this Tim is working to bring new business leaders in to support the environment agenda, to liaise with industry groups and increase the resources available to help BITC to deliver a step change in its areas of focus, for the businesses BITC works with and the communities they serve.

Susan is an experienced business leader with knowledge gained in a variety of sectors including corporate real estate finance, portfolio management, risk and small- and medium-sized enterprise banking. Susan is passionate about supporting business expansion, job creation and economic growth in Scotland.

As well as being involved with the Responsible Business movement, Susan sits on the strategic advisory board of Converge Challenge and is a member of The Royal Bank’s Scotland board. 

Susan read international business and modern languages at Strathclyde University.  She strongly believes in supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and future leaders, and mentors a number of businesses and young people.

A busy working mother, she is also a champion for diversity within the workplace.

Richard Aylard joined Thames Water in 2002 as Corporate Responsibility Director and led the company’s engagement with external stakeholders, including councils, MPs, community groups and environmental organisations from 2005 to 2019. As Sustainability Director, Richard focuses on the key issues of the environment, responsible business and the response to the climate crisis, working in partnership with stakeholders and groups. Richard is a member of the executive team and is the principal spokesperson with the media and other audiences. 

Richard has a degree in biological science from Reading University and served in the Royal Navy for 16 years. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management and Chair of the Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) Charity.

Sky Group

Net Zero Carbon Taskforce

Anna leads on Sky group’s environmental agenda and business transformation specialist for single-use plastic within Sky operations.

Having spent more than a decade in the environmental field, Anna is a Chartered Waste Manager of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management and began her career in waste management working on various high-profiled projects in the Far East.

Over the course of her career, she has further worked with several manufacturers in China of major brands on life cycle analysis and thinking, environmental impact assessments on the power and energy sector, Circular Economy route mapping on a city level and on feasibility studies (such as commercial waste charging and producer responsibility schemes), waste contracts and audits for governmental bodies.

After coming out of the environmental consultancy industry, she joined Sky in 2016 to progress through the huge topic of the climate emergency. As part of the Bigger Picture team she brings with her a passion to drive carbon reduction, energy and resource efficiency, circular economy and single-use plastic reduction within the business and as part of the Sky Ocean Rescue campaign.

Nick initially joined BITC in November 2017 as a consultant, providing advice and support on how best to structure and execute the BITC strategy. In July 2018, he moved to the Membership team where he was appointed Membership Director and asked to be part of BITC’s Executive management team. He leads the team in ensuring that our members engage with BITC in a way that supports their responsible business needs, priorities and vision, working with them to deliver maximum societal impact.
 
Nick has over 30 years relationship management, sales, consultancy and advisory experience gained working for several leading International banks, including a number of executive management positions. Clients have included many of the world’s largest multinational corporates headquartered around the world. He has always worked closely with BITC; sitting on the London Leadership Board, as well as being appointed Prince’s Ambassador in 2012.
 
In his spare time Nick enjoys travel, following his local football team Crystal Palace and spending as much time as possible with his family.

Drake joined Business in the Community as Chief Operating Officer in February 2019.  

Much of Drake’s career has been spent in financial service straddling New York and London (where he has been based since 1992).  He has held senior roles in asset management (most recently as COO of Neuberger Berman’s Europe, Middle East and Latin America activities) and capital markets (including 15 years with JPMorgan Chase, where Drake led the firm’s Structured Capital Markets business in Europe).  

For more than 20 years Drake has also been active in philanthropic roles, predominantly focused on education and accessibility. Since 2016 he has served as a Commissioner of the US-UK Fulbright Commission and he is a founding Trustee of the UK Friends of Georgetown University.  Drake has previously served as Chair of his local residents’ association and has served his alma mater in a variety of board roles, including six years on Georgetown’s Board of Regents where he was Chair of the Global Engagement Committee.

Outside of the office, Drake enjoys adventurous travel with his family (he and his wife have two sons who attend university in the UK).  He is also a passionate skier and is fond of any game involving a racket.
