Factsheet: Avoiding Jargon and Technical Language

This short factsheet supports employers to remove jargon and technical language from their job descriptions.

When employers use jargon and technical language in their entry level job descriptions, this makes young people worry that they don’t have special background knowledge that they’d need to be able do a role, and this can put them off applying. 

It was developed as part of Business in the Community’s Future Proof campaign, backed by the City & Guilds Group to help employers break down the barriers in their recruitment processes to create quality, accessible jobs for all young people.
